Applications and Uses of Sorbic Acid

Sorbic Acid E200 can be used in Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Health & Personal care products, Agriculture/Animal Feed/Poultry. Sorbic acid E200 is used a food preservative in dairy foods like cheese and yogurt, dried fruit, fish, meat, pickles, olives, soups, prepared salads, jelly, syrups, wine, beer, soft drinks and baked goods such as breads, bagels and pastries against fungi and yeasts. Sorbic Acid E200 is not effective against bacteria.

Sorbic acid E200 is used in it’s salt forms (sodium sorbate, potassium sorbate, and calcium sorbate) as a preservative in the production of drinks and food to prevent the growth of any mold, yeast, and fungi.

Sorbic Acid E200 can be used as preservative in the formulation of facial and eye makeup and skin care and hair products in Cosmetics and personal care producucts. Sorbic Acid and Potassium Sorbate kill microorganisms, or prevent or retard their growth and reproduction, and thus protect cosmetics and personal care products from spoilage.

In Agriculture/Animal Feed/Poultry

Sorbic Acid E200 can be used as preservative in Agriculture/Animal Feed/Poultry feed.
